Most people never realize that their computer is infected with spyware and adaware. What they do notice is that it is running a lot slower than it used to. Slow boot times or waiting forever for programs to open and start can be very annoying. Ever get so annoyed you want to smash your computer with a hammer?

Almost all computers will get infected with spyware at one time or another. If you download programs off the internet they will sometimes come bundled with spyware. That cool looking screen saver you just downloaded may contain a hidden program that is collecting your info. Spyware can record keystrokes, keep records on what sites you visit and even find your user names and passwords.

All this info may be collected for a period of time then sent off to someone to be used against you. They can then steal your identity, clean out your bank account or buy new furniture for their home on your credit. It happens all the time. In mild cases of infection you may be getting screen freeze ups, pop ups or strange programs starting up when you boot your computer or surf on line, ever have your homepage set to something you did not want? Ever notice your computer is working hard even when you are not using it?

If you have any of these symptoms it would be wise to scan and clean your computer. So the next decision you need to make is what software to invest in, With so many programs out there what one really works? Do you go with a free version? You can use free software but they do not do a thorough job. In fact they are designed that way.

If you want to test that for yourself, download a free version of a spyware adaware cleaner and run a scan. It found a bunch of stuff, great. Now download another free program and run a scan, it found more the first one did not, great. Download a third and you will most likely find more. So is your computer clean now? You will never be sure.

Why not invest in a good professional version of a top scanner and cleaner and have peace of mind knowing your computer is completely clean and protected from future attacks. Running a scan for the first time may shock you with the amount of garbage that has collected on you computer. After you re-boot your computer you will notice an increase in speed and performance, in fact it will run like it did the day you bought it. No more programs running in the background using up your computers resources.

Slow computer problems are one of the most common complaints from PC users. There is no need to suffer with a slow PC. If your computer takes forever to boot or you go and get coffee while programs load, you may be infected with spyware.

At one time or another almost everyone will get some sort of spyware running on their computer, and most people have no idea they even have it. Spyware will run in the background without you knowing it using up a good share of your resources. This will cause your computer to slow down. I have seen some that were so bad it took several minuets before a program would even start to load. Processors would run at 100 percent and almost all the memory was in use.

Eventually these computers would freeze, crash, blue screen or re-boot on their own. If you notice your computer slowing down or maybe your mouse is jerky, you may have a mild case of infection. With the proper tools you can completely restore all your lost performance.

You will need a good scanner and cleaner.

While there are a lot of free ones out there you can download you are better off investing in a paid professional version. Why you ask? First of all ask yourself why are the free ones free? The answer is they are designed to not do a complete job. Their whole purpose is to get you to buy their upgraded version. Hard to believe? Try 2 or 3 free spyware / adaware cleaners and I bet each one will find stuff the others did not.

I used to run three different free programs and they all came up with bad stuff on my computer. My computer was still slow and after talking to a professional tech I bought a paid version of one of the top cleaners. The one the techs take with them on their service calls. After all, they want to do the job once and move on to the next.

My computer now runs like it did when it was new. Yours will too. Plus you can feel secure the next time you log into your bank account that there is no programs running in the background collecting your information.

Amazingly some people have been running their computer for years and have never scanned it for spyware or adaware. If you have windows popping up, applications starting or running that you did not install or maybe your homepage is now set to something you did not want, you are infected with spyware.

Surfing online or even bundled in some downloads can infest your computer with garbage that you did not ask for. In some cases you may have worms or trojans that collect your personal info or keystrokes and send it off to someone next time you get online. Some hacker may now have your bank account user name and password without you knowing.

Adaware or spyware will also slow your computer down. I had one case where the users computer was running at a very slow crawl due to so many programs running in the background. A build up of garbage collected over a few years and their computer was running at 98 percent just to keep up. A thorough scan and cleaning restored the computer to like new condition.

As a computer tech I used to carry my preferred software on a memory stick or CD and use it to run scans. I found it worth the price many times over to buy a good spyware remover. After trying almost every free one out there I found they did not do a complete job. You will soon discover this too if you decide to go the free route. Download two or three free programs and I bet each one of them will find stuff the others did not.

A professional program like XoftSpySe will do a complete job the first time. It is also the preferred software for most computer techs. Free programs do not have the funds to spend on keeping their definitions updated like the paid versions.

Once you decide on and install your software you will want to do a full scan for the first time. This may take a while. You will probably be shocked the first time you run a scan on the number of files that do not belong on your computer. After your first scan is complete you will want to re boot your computer and I am willing to bet you will notice a huge increase in performance and speed.

Scanning your system once a week or so will keep it clean and running smooth. You will also want to update and scan with what ever anti virus program is installed on your computer.

At one time or another, almost all computers that are online will become infected with some sort of spyware and most computer owners will never know it. Your personal info could be collected and sent off to a foreign country without your knowledge.

Your computer can have become infected with spyware from anything you download. It may have come bundled with your innocent looking download and installed and is now running in the background without your knowledge. Spyware will use up a lot of computer resources slowing down your PC. Your mouse may become jerky, your screen may freeze or your applications may become very slow to load. Ever notice your computer is running, grinding away working hard, while you’re not even on it? Any of these may be an indication of spyware.

So how do you find out if you’re infected? Since the Windows operating system does not come with anything built in, you will have to download a third-party program. While there are some free ones, you can download and run they’re not really recommended. The truth is they don’t do a complete job. Some are even designed that way to encourage you to upgrade to their paid version. You are better off investing in a professional spyware cleaner/scanner.

The saying “you get what you pay for” is true in this case. If professional spyware cleaner will do a complete job the first time, and prevent any future infections before they happen. Plus you can schedule them to do routine maintenance on your computer when you’re not using it. This will keep your computer free from any malicious programs.

It’s amazing that most people never perform any maintenance on their computer or scan for spyware until their computer slows to a snail’s pace. Identity theft has become a major problem and the way most people lose their personal information is from spyware. If you have a key logger running on your computer that you do not know about it maybe collecting your user names and passwords every time you login somewhere, like your bank or PayPal. It happens all the time, people log into their bank account and find out it has been cleaned out. Don’t become one of them.

Recently people have been getting a new infection on her computer that will cause a pop-up window indicating that Windows has detected a spyware infection. The truth about this notice is that you are already infected and Windows is not indicating that, the spyware program you’re infected with is causing the pop-up itself. It’s actually a clever but dirty way for the manufacture to try and sell their product.
